REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCREDITATION OF PLANT NURSERY OPERATOR



In order to effectively implement the Department’s thrust of producing the quality planting materials for distribution to orchardists, the following requirements for accrediting operators of a plant nursery are hereby imposed:

1.   The Nursery Operator shall preferably be a member of a Nursery Association.

2.    Applicant should be the nursery operator manager.

3.    Applicant should be resident of 6 months where the nursery to be accredited is located.

4.    Site of nursery must have a good source of water and if possible with fencing.

5.    Applicant must submit a business permit from the municipal government and certificate of registration from the Department of Trade and Industry.

6.    Operations in the nursery should be in conformity with the proper nursery practices and plant materials standard defined and promulgated by the Bureau of Plant Industry.

7.     Nursery Operators shall only obtain their propagative materials from registered parent trees or accredited scion grove.  Applicants should submit the list of sources of propagative materials indicating location of parent trees and owner of orchard.

8.    Nursery owner/operators must have a stock of nursery plants valued or worth minimum of P50,000.00 during inventory period.

9.    Applicant must be aware that spot inspection after accreditation will be conducted by authorized representatives of the BPI Director.

10.  BPI shall cancel accreditation in case during evaluation/monitoring, the nursery operator is not following the proper practices and stated terms in the application.

11.   Nursery owners should observe sanitation and other pest management practices within nursery premises.

12.    Nursery operator should put a placard indicating the name of the establishment and identification tag of their plants for sale.

13.  All accreditation certificates shall be renewed 2 years after accreditation.

14. Citrus plants are subject to BPI technical evaluation and nursery operators should follow recommendation of the inspector.

15. An application fee of P100.00 shall be charged per applicant which shall be deposited to the Account #010840243.

This memorandum circular takes effect immediately.
