[ BOC CUSTOMS MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 5-97, September 02, 1997 ]

AMENDMENT TO CUSTOMS MEMORANDUM ORDER 8-95 AMENDING CMO NO. 62-93 (TRANSSHIPMENT OF FOREIGN CIGARETTES)



Paragraph No. (3) of CMO 8-95 dated April 5, 1995 is hereby amended to read as follows:

"3.     As a general rule, foreign transshipment of imported cigarettes with significant domestic consumption such as the brands hereunder specified shall not be allowed, except when they are to be entered/discharged and then shipped back to the port of final destination (foreign) directly from the Port of Manila (South Harbor) and the Manila International Container Port (MICP):
1. Marlboro
2. Winston
3. Champion
4. Salem
5. Kent
6. Dunhill
7. Benson & Hedges

In all cases, the approving authority must ALERT the Bureau's enforcement units accordingly, and provide the Philippine Navy headquarters the particulars of the vessel including its sailing plan and itinerary in accordance with the format herein attached as Annex "A", to be submitted by the shipping line/agent thru its Operations Manager and accompanied by the latest colored photograph of the vessel showing its whole breadth and name for easy identification."

All other customs issuances which are inconsistent herewith are deemed revoked or modified accordingly.

This order shall take effect immediately.
