RULES GOVERNING THE IMPORTATION OF MEAT PRODUCTS IN NEW ZEALAND
WHEREAS, the Department of Agriculture Philippine Mission in New Zealand after a thorough investigation and evaluation of the meat processing procedures, quality assurance and disease situation in the country found favorable conditions that merit allowing the importation of processed meat products from New Zealand pursuant to Memorandum Order No. 95 and Administrative Order No. 23;
WHEREAS, certain conditions are set up to allow such importation of processed meat products;
WHEREAS, only the specified Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) Regulatory Authority accredited meat processing plant stated below is allowed to export processed meat products to the Philippines:
McCALLUM INDUSTRIES LIMITED (PF 134)
AFFCO SHORTLAND CANNERY (PH 170)
WHEREAS, all importations of processed meat products shall be accompanied by:
a. Veterinary Quarantine Clearance/Permit signed by the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture or his duly authorized representatives and have complied with the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and the National Meat Inspection Commission (NMIC) rules and regulations;
b. Sanitary/Health Certificate issued by the New Zealand MAF Regulatory Authority; and
c. Other relevant certification on drug, pesticide and hormonal residues and heavy metal contaminants as the need arises.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ROBERTO S. SEBASTIAN, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, do hereby issue the above stated set of guidelines governing the importation of processed meat products from New Zealand.
All orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof, which are in conflict with the provisions of this Order are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.
This Order shall take effect immediately.
