(NAR) VOL. 5 NO. 1/JANUARY - MARCH 1994

[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 06, s. 1994, February 01, 1994 ]

WHITE SLAVERY TRADE IN BELGIUM VICTIMIZING FILIPINO WOMEN

The Philippine Embassy in Belgium reported that white slavery and mail order brides involving Filipino women are on the rise in that country. It gathered that Filipino who are forced into prostitution are usually those who come to Belgium as cultural or folkloric dancers and as wives of Belgians who happen to be owners of cabarets.

All entities authorized to conduct PEOS are enjoined to include in their seminars information and warning about the risks of going to Belgium under such guises.

For compliance.
