FOREIGN ADOPTION ADVISORY COMMITTEE



A Foreign Adoption Advisory Committee is hereby created to assist the Secretary in the development and amendment of policies, standards and procedures.

1. It shall be composed of not more than eleven (11) child welfare specialists from various disciplines to be appointed by the Secretary.

The Specific functions are as follows:

2.1. Reviews and recommends new legislation, policies, standards and procedures on adoption or amendments to existing ones;

2.2  Recommends innovative strategies/ approaches to enhance child care and placement services;

2.3  Reviews accreditation assessment of foreign adoption agencies and liaison offices and recommend appropriate action;

2.4  Advocate for the promotion of children's rights;

2.5  Performs other related tasks assigned by the Secretary.

3. The Advisory Committee shall meet monthly from September to December 1992 and quarterly starting 1993.

The committee members shall have a term of one year subject to renewal.

The members are entitled to reasonable transportation allowance to be determined by the Secretary.
