[ DOH MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR, December 18, 1969 ]

IN CASE OF DEATH AT SEA



When there is death at sea on board any vessel, the master of the vessel shall observe the following requirements:

(a)     He shall inform this Bureau by wireless about the death on board and the ETA of his vessel at its port of destination.

(b)     The vessel shall drop anchor at the quarantine anchorage on arrival and fly the quarantine flag.  It shall then be boarded by a quarantine medical officer for verification of the cause of death and perform quarantine examination of all persons on board if such procedure is necessary.

This order shall take effect immediately and the cooperation of all concerned shall be appreciated.
