(NAR) VOL. 11 NO.1 / JANUARY – MARCH 2000
[ PPA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 61-99, December 29, 1999 ]
PORT CHARGES IN PORTS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF SUBIC SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE
The Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC) has opined
that under RA 7227, all ports within the Subic Special Economic Zone are
within the power of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) to
regulate, operate and maintain. Accordingly, PPA may no longer enforce
its port rules and regulations in ports embraced in the Subic Special
Economic Zone nor collect charges on vessels and cargoes handled
thereat.
In view therefore, all port charges against vessels and cargoes applicable at all ports within the Zone shall no longer be collected at the next port of call or at North Harbor.
This Circular amends PPA Memorandum Circular No. 31-99.
Adopted: 29 Dec. 1999
