[ PRC RESOLUTION NO. 2000-656, March 13, 2000 ]

AMENDING PRC RESOLUTION NO. 96-434, ENTITLED “PERMANENT SCHEDULE OF SUBJECTS IN VARIOUS LICENSURE EXAMINATIONS” (RE: CHANGE OF NOMENCLATURE OF SOME SUBJECTS AND PROVIDING A NEW EXAMINATION SCHEDULE OF THE SUBJECTS IN THE MARINE DECK OFFICERS’ EXAMINATION)



WHEREAS, on January 6, 1996, the Commission issued Resolution No. 96-434, entitled “Permanent Schedule of Subjects in Various Licensure Examinations.”

WHEREAS, in Board Resolution No. 21, Series of 1999, known as the “Rules and Regulations Implementing Republic Act No. 8544, The Philippine Merchant Marine Act of 1998”, adopted by the Board of Marine Deck Officers and approved by the Commission, there are changes in the nomenclature of some subjects for examination which have not been incorporated by way of amendment to PRC Resolution No. 96-434, Series of 1996.

WHEREAS, in his Memorandum to the Chairman of the Commission dated March 3, 2000, Capt. Mario K. Alfelor, Chair of the Board of Marine Deck Officers, requested for a change in the schedule of the examination of certain subjects “due to the change in the range of difficulty of two (2) subjects as presented by the examinees during the orientation conducted by the Board”.

WHEREAS, it is necessary that the changes in the nomenclature of some subjects for examination as well as the change in the day-schedule of examination of two (2) subjects in the licensure examination of marine deck officers of both levels be reflected in PRC Resolution No. 96-434 to avoid confusion among applicants for examination as well as examinees.

WHEREFORE, the Commission resolved as it hereby resolves to amend PRC Resolution No. 96-434, Series of 1996, by (a) classifying the marine deck officers into two (2) levels (management & operational), (b) placing the subjects for licensure examination under each level including the changed nomenclature of subjects under each level and (c) indicating the day and time of examination for each subject as follows:

The Board of Marine Deck Officers shall prepare and adopt programs or amend existing programs, whichever is appropriate, for the licensure examinations of officers of the management and operational level for the April 8, 9 & 10, 2000 examination.

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished to the Board concerned, the divisions/sections/units under the Office of Licensure and the Secretariat of the Professional Regulatory Boards (PRBs) for their guidance.
