ADOPTION OF THE MERCHANT SHIP SEARCH AND RESCUE (MERSAR) COURSE AS TRAINING STANDARD



The Merchant Ship Search and Rescue (MERSAR) Course Curriculum, MTC Course Program No. 98-0019 in compliance with Regulation II/1 and II/2 of the STCW-78 Convention, as amended, has been successfully pilot tested. Subsequently it has been recommended by the MERSAR Sub-Committee for adoption as training standards for the said course.

In consideration of the above and in the absence of an IMO Model Course for this particular training program the said developed and pilot - tested MERSAR Course is hereby adopted as training standards for training of deck officers under the operational and management level of responsibility onboard ship.

Applicants who are interested to offer this course may secure a copy of the Course Curriculum and its Course Compendium from the Maritime Training Council Secretariat at 6th Floor, POEA Bldg., Ortigas Ave., corner EDSA, Mandaluyong City.
