WORK PERMITS FOR HOLDERS OF SPECIAL RESIDENT RETIREE VISAS



Under Executive Order No. 1037 (Creating the Philippine Retirement Park System, Providing Funds Therefor and for Other Purposes, s. of 1985), Implementing Rule III, Section 1 (e) classifies holders of Special Resident Retiree Visas (SRRV) as non-immigrants, who are afforded residence in the Philippine for an indefinite period. As non-immigrants, SRRV holders shall secure alien employment permits (AEP) from the Department of Labor and Employment under Presidential Decree No. 442 (The Labor Code), as amended.

Pending the issuance of the AEP, SRRV holders shall be required to obtain a Bureau of Immigration Special Work Permit (SWP) under Commonwealth Act No. 613, Section 42 (a) (32). The SWP shall be valid for an initial period of three months. It may be extended for succeeding three-month periods, but not exceeding one year. The SWP shall, however, be deemed cancelled upon the issuance of by the AEP.

This memorandum shall take effect immediately.
