[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 07, S. 2000, May 22, 2000 ]

REVISION OF MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR WORKERS



The Taiwan Department of Health has officially announced that the following shall comprise the medical examination for all Taiwan-bound OFWs, effective May 1, 2000:

1.      Chest-X-ray examination for tuberculosis (standard enlarged negative)
2.      Serological test for HIV
3.      Serological test for Syphilis
4.      Hepa B Surface Antigen test
5.      Urine test for marijuana
6.      Stool test for intestinal parasites (includes entameba histolytica, etc.)
7.      Urine test for Amphetamines and Opiate Metabolites.
8.      Pregnancy Test
9.      General physical examination (including psychiatric condition) and test for leprosy.

After arrival in Taiwan, the worker need not take up medical examinations for Urine Test for Marijuana. Further, the worker need not take the Hepa-B Surface Antigen Test during his/her six-months stay after arriving in Taiwan.
