DEPLOYMENT OF OFWS TO IRAQ



Pursuant to DOLE Department Order No. 60-04, Series of 2004, the following advisory is hereby issued:

1.    The processing of employment contracts and deployment of OFWs to Iraq is hereby resumed on a selective basis effective 01 July 2004.

2.    The deployment however, of truck drivers shall remain suspended.

3.    Resumption of deployment shall be allowed gradually based on specific work/camp sites that have been assessed by the Presidential Middle East Preparedness Committee (PMEPC) / Task Force Iraq (TFI) with the concurrence of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

4.    The resumption of deployment shall be allowed initially for OFWs bound for Camp Victory located in the Baghdad International Airport (BIAP) complex only.

5.    Deployment to other work / camp sites shall remain suspended until such time when the safety and security assessment shall have been completed by the PMEPC-TFI.

6.    No OFW shall be allowed to work in high risk areas like those outside the camps of the United States, British and other Multi-national forces.

The POEA shall issue periodic advisories on the resumption of deployment for other work / camp sites and on other pertinent information in due course.
