TEMPORARY BAN ON THE IMPORTATION OF DOMESTIC AND WILD PIGS, DOMESTIC AND WILD HORSES, FRESH/FROZEN PORK MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCTS FROM DOMESTIC AND WILD PIGS, FRESH/FROZEN HORSE MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCTS FROM DOMESTIC AND WILD HORSES, SEMEN FROM DOMESTIC/WILD PIGS AND HORSES, ANIMAL BY-PRODUCTS FROM PIGS AND HORSES INTENDED FOR USE IN ANIMAL FEEDING AND/OR FOR INDUSTRIAL/COMMERCIAL PURPOSES ORIGINATING FROM MALAYSIA



In view of the outbreak of the Japanese Encephalitis and Hendra-Like Diseases in Malaysia, a temporary ban on the importation of the following livestock/poultry (domestic and wild) and their products, originating from Malaysia shall take effect immediately:

1.    Domestic and wild pigs
2.    Domestic and wild horses
3.    Semen of domestic and wild pigs/horses
4.    Fresh/frozen meat of domestic and wild pigs
5.    Fresh/frozen meat of domestic and wild horses; and
6.    Animal by-products intended for use in animal feeding and or for industrial/commercial purposes.

Hence, the issuance of Veterinary Quarantine Clearance (VQC) or permits to the importers for the importation of the live pigs (domestic/wild), live horses (domestic/wild), their products, fresh/frozen meat and meat products from pigs (domestic/wild), horses (domestic/wild) originating from Malaysia shall be immediately stopped. Also, VQC or permits issued to importers on the date of approval of this memorandum shall not be honored.

Furthermore, all importations being approved/allowed by the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) upon the approval of this memorandum and whose shipments of live animals (domestic/wild) and their products, meat and meat products have not yet arrived shall be deemed cancelled.
