[ DOLE DEPARTMENT ORDER NO. 05, S 1997, May 19, 1997 ]

POLICY ON THE RELEASE OF ADDITIONAL P1 MILLION CASH RELIEF ASSISTANCE TO THE OTHER SUGAR WORKERS IN CENTRAL LUZON WHO ARE VICTIMS OF MUDFLOWS AND LAHAR CAUSED BY THE ERUPTION OF MT. PINATUBO



Acting upon the recommendation of the Sugar Tripartite Council (STC) as embodied in its Resolution No. 06 (s. 1996), the release of additional P1 million from the 9% Socio-Economic Projects Fund (SEPF) of RA 6982 to DOLE-Regional Office No. 3 as cash relief assistance to other sugar workers in Central Luzon who were also affected by the mudflows and lahar is hereby authorized, subject to the following guidelines:

1.         The amount shall be released by the Bureau of Rural Workers (BRW), this Department, to DOLE-RO3, subject to the usual government and accounting procedures which includes, among others, the liquidation of previous cash advances;

2.         DOLE-RO3 shall adopt the same principle and manner of distribution of the fund applied to the previously released P1 million assistance;

3.         The PASUDECO District Tripartite Council (DTC) shall immediately convene to determine and assure the qualified beneficiaries and, in like manner, enhance the speedy, effective and efficient distribution of the same; and

4.         DOLE-R03 shall submit a comprehensive report of the operation/implementation of such relief assistance, together with the necessary supporting documents to the Secretary of Labor and Employment through the Bureau of Rural Workers, copy furnished the Sugar Tripartite Council within 3 months after release/transfer of the fund for said purpose and/or termination of the subject assistance, whichever is earlier.

This Order shall take effect upon issuance.
