(NAR) VOL. 18 NO. 1/JANUARY - MARCH 2007

[ DA MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 32, s. 2006, November 03, 2006 ]

CORN FOR HEALTH DAYS

To encourage the consumption of corn grits, corn and other corn products, all Bureaus, Attached Agencies and Corporations and RFUs of the Department of Agriculture with food service facilities are enjoined to promote and serve boiled corn grits (or boiled mixed rice and corn grits) and/or other healthy food preparations from corn at least once a week and make the occasion known as Corn for Health Day. The battle-cry of the project is “Eat Corn for a Healthy Lifestyle.”

The promotion of Corn for Health is a project spearheaded by the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Product Standards (BAFPS) and GMA Corn Program. It is aimed at generating awareness for the health benefits of corn, a source of energy, nutrients and fiber. Ultimately, the project aims to help increase demand for the commodity as food.

For inquiries about the project, please contact Ms Teeny Nava of BAFPS, thru tel. 02 9206131 to 33 or email bafps@yahoo.com.ph.

So ordered.
