[ PRC BOARD OF FISHERIES RESOLUTION NO. 01-A, April 23, 2003 ]
PROMULGATION OF THE SYLLABI OF SUBJECTS IN THE LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR FISHERIES TECHNOLOGISTS
WHEREAS, Sec. 12, Art. IV of PRC Resolution No. 2000-664, Series of 2000 (Creation of the Board of Fisheries under the Professional Regulation Commission and for Other Purposes) and Sec. 23, Art. V of the Board of Fisheries Resolution No. 01, Series of 2002 (Rules and Regulations Implementing PRC Resolution No. 2000-664, as Amended) provide that "All applicants for registration for the practice of the fisheries profession shall be required to undergo and pass a written examination as provided herein";
WHEREAS, the examination for the practice of the fisheries profession in the Philippines shall consist of written tests which shall cover the following subjects, namely: (1) Aquaculture, (2) Capture Fisheries, (3) Post-Harvest Fisheries, and (4) Aquatic Resources and Ecology;
WHEREAS, Sec. 9 (h) of R.A. No. 8981 known as the "PRC Modernization Act of 2000" empowers the Regulatory Boards to prepare, adopt, and issue the syllabi or table of specifications of the subjects for examination in fisheries, in consultation with the academe and determine and prepare the questions for the said examination which shall strictly be within the scope of the syllabi;
WHEREAS, Memorandum Circular No. 08, Series of 1992 of the Commission, directed every professional regulatory board to prescribe and adopt a syllabus for every examination subject;
WHEREAS, after two consultations (April, 2001 and April, 2002) with academe composed of heads/representatives of schools/colleges of fisheries, CHED and BFAR, the Board prepared the syllabi of the subjects for examination in the licensure examination for Fisheries Technologists.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES, to prescribe, adopt and issue syllabi of the subjects in the licensure examination for Fisheries Technologists embodied in the document denominated as "SYLLABI FOR THE FISHERIES TECHNOLOGIST LICENSURE EXAMINATION" marked as Annex "A"* and appended hereto and made an integral part of this Resolution.
The examination questions that shall be used in the first examination for Fisheries Technologists scheduled on October 1 and 2, 2003 shall be made/prepared based on and within the scope of the syllabi of the subjects of examination.
Let copies of this Resolution be furnished for dissemination to all concerned schools, colleges and universities, public and private, offering courses in fisheries and the Department of Agriculture.
This Resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days following its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation, whichever is earlier.
