(NAR) VOL.8 NO. 2 / APRIL - JUNE 1997

[ PRC RESOLUTION NO. 473-A SERIES OF 1997, January 13, 1997 ]

AMENDMENT TO RESOLUTION NO. 96-436, SERIES OF 1996 (RE: AMENDMENT TO SECTION 8-A OF RESOLUTION NO. 381, SERIES OF 1995)

<div align="justify">
By virtue of Resolution No. 96-436, Series of 1996, the Professional Regulation Commission allowed the accreditation of multi-disciplinary providers in Continuing Professional Education programs of the various Professional Regulatory Boards and it is the Commission which accredits said CPE providers. The programs of the multi-disciplinary providers under Section 8-A of Resolution No. 381, as amended, however, shall be accredited by the CPE Council concerned.

It has been observed that when multi-disciplinary providers submit their programs or activities, there are CPE Councils which do not act or even refuse, for unknown reasons, to accredit the program. Moreover, the accreditation of the said programs are sometimes delayed for the reason that CPE Councils convene only once a month or sometimes they do not even convene at all.

To obviate this problem, it shall be the Commission which will also accredit the programs, activities or sources of the multi-disciplinary providers.

WHEREFORE, the Commission hereby RESOLVES to amend Section 8-A of Resolution No. 381, s. 1995, as amended, as follows:

“SECTION 8-A.         Accreditation of Government Agencies and Instrumentalities, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations, Level 2 and Level 3 Recognized Educational Institutions, Well-Known Registered Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Natural Persons, Firms, Partnerships, Corporations or Institutions and other Judicial Entities as Providers — The Commission shall assume and exercise the authority to accredit as providers government agencies, instrumentalities, government-owned and controlled corporations, Level 2 and 3 recognized educational institutions, well-known registered non-governmental organizations, natural persons, firms, partnerships, corporations or institutions and other judicial entities to various registered professionals or disciplines; provided, that the CPE programs and activities such as seminars of the said providers shall be accredited by the Commission.”

This Resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days from its publication in the Official Gazette or in any newspaper of general circulation, whichever is earlier.

Adopted: 13 January 1997
