[ SRA SUGAR ORDER NO. 9, March 14, 1997 ]

FILLING-UP THE ADDITIONAL U.S. SUGAR QUOTA FOR QUOTA YEAR 1996-1997



Whereas, the Office of the United States Trade Representative officially advised the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) about an additional allocation of raw cane sugar tariff rate quota of 27, 411 Metric Tons Raw Value or 26,484 Metric Tons Commercial Weight (MTCW);

Whereas, it is for the best interest of the Sugar Industry to fill up said additional U.S. Quota for Quota Year 1996-1997 at the earliest possible time;

Whereas, there is an available volume of “A” or U.S. Quota sugar to fill up the aforementioned additional quota of 26,484 MTCW;

Now, therefore, under and by virtue of the authority vested in the Sugar Regulatory Administration, it is hereby ordered that:

SECTION 1.       The 26,484 MTCW additional quota shall be allocated on a “First-Come-First-Served” basis.

SECTION 2.       The sugar exporters with approved allocations for the 4th quarter may have the option to apply their 4th quarter allocations to partially fill-up the said 26,484 MTCW, provided written request on the matter is sent to the SRA.

SECTION 3.       The “A” sugar quedan-permits issued during the current crop year 1996-1997 shall only be eligible for withdrawal of the corresponding “A” or U.S. Quota Sugar for export under this Order.

SECTION 4.       This Sugar order shall take effect immediately.

SECTION 5.       Provision of Sugar Orders, Circular Letter and/or rules and regulations contrary to or inconsistent with this Sugar Order are hereby amended, modified or revoked accordingly.
