DIRECTING ALL NATIONAL AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, GOVERNMENT-OWNED AND CONTROLLED CORPORATIONS, GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS AND OTHER GOVERNMENT INSTRUMENTALITIES INCLUDING PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MILITARY AND POLICE UNITS TO USE LOCALLY-PRODUCED MATERIALS FOR THEIR UNIFORMS



In line with the drive to promote locally-made products through the "Buy Filipino" Program, to boost the local textile and garment manufacturing industry and generate jobs for Filipinos, and upon the recommendation of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), all heads of national and local Government agencies, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations, Government Financial Institutions and other government instrumentalities, including public schools, military and police units, are hereby directed to use local fabrics, knitted or woven from locally manufactured yarns, for the uniform of their employees and for other clothing and textile requirements of their respective agencies: Provided, however, That the use of imported fabrics may be allowed only where no local fabric of the desired quality or standard is available in the market at competitive prices.

The DOLE and the Department of Trade and Industry shall issue the Implementing Guidelines for this Memorandum Circular within thirty (30) days from the date of issuance of this Memorandum Circular.
