(NAR) VOL. 2 NO. 1/JANUARY-MARCH 1991

[ BFAD MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 24-A, November 27, 1989 ]

ADULTERATED AND UNREGISTERED IMPORTED FOOD PRODUCTS

BFAD Laboratory reports of analysis confirmed that samples of imported food products in the market are either adulterated or unregistered.  Administrative Order No. 37 s. 1979 provides for a mandatory registration for all imported food and food products.  Further, R.A. 3720 as amended, prohibits any person from selling adulterated and misbranded food products.

In view thereof, and by virtue of Administrative Order No. 72 series of 1983, all distributors and retailers of all food products are hereby warned that fifteen (15) days from the publication of this Circular, any unregistered food and food products found adulterated will be seized and confiscated by Food and Drug Inspectors without further notice to protect the consuming public.  By this same Circular, Food and Drug Inspectors are hereby directed to conduct a special inspection of all food retail outlets to determine and verify the presence of unregistered food products in the market.

For immediate compliance.
