[ BFAD MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 16, December 28, 1990 ]

EXEMPTION OF CERTIFIED COUNTRYSIDE AND BARANGAY BUSINESS ENTERPRISES (CCBE) FROM BFAD LICENSE



Republic Act No. 6810 otherwise known as the "Magna Carta For Countryside and Barangay Business Enterprises ( Kalakalan 20) and DTI-Department Order No. 2, s. 1990 implementing the said law grant exemption to certified CCBE from

"other taxes OR FEES that are, or may be imposed by the national or local government units (Sec. 17(e), D.A.O. No. 2 s. 1990)."

Pursuant thereto, certified Countryside and Barangay Business Enterprises ( CCBEs) which are required under Republic Act No. 3720 as amended, to secure BFAD license to operate are exempted from paying fees to obtain BFAD licenses and COC's for five (5) years unless their certificates of authority as CCBE are earlier cancelled or revoked.

It is understood that certified CCBE has no more than twenty (20) employees, has assets which do not exceed Five Hundred Thousand (P500,000.00) and is otherwise eligible to register as CBBE under Section 5 of DTI-DAO No. 2 s. 1990.

For this purpose, applications for BFAD LTO by certified CCBE must be accompanied by an authentic copy of CBBE Certificate of Authority by the Department of Trade and Industry together with all other documentary requirements by BFAD.
