(NAR) VOL. 7 NO. 2 / APRIL-JUNE 1996

[ MMDA RESOLUTION NO. 4, February 29, 1996 ]

EXTENDING THE TIME PROVIDED FOR IN RESOLUTION NO. 19, SERIES OF 1994, GRANTING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS (LGUS) OF METROPOLITAN MANILA TO THE INCENTIVE PROGRAM OF THE FILM DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC. (FDFPI) BY WAY OF ONE HUNDRED PERCENT (100%) AMUSEMENT TAX REBATES FOR FIFTEEN QUALITY LOCAL FILMS TO BE RATED, FROM JANUARY 1 TO JUNE 1996

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 19, series of 1994 of the  Metro Manila Council was passed on August 18 1994, in support to the FDFPI’s program of encouraging movie producers to produce relevant and quality films by way of One Hundred Percent (100%) amusement tax rebate from the LGUs of Metro Manila for fifteen (15) quality local films to be rated annually.

WHEREAS, while the incentive program has generated an increase in film  production by more than 10%  in 1995 as compared to 1994, only eight (8) films, by virtue of Film Ratings Board’s  (FRB’s) judicious selection and evaluation, were able to merit the rating required to qualify for the tax rebate; thereby leaving a balance of seven (7) more films that could vie for the meritorious ratings of the FRB and ultimately qualify for tax rebate;

WHEREAS, firmly believing that the incentive given to superior Filipino films would boost not only quality but earnings as well, the FDFPI is requesting the LGUs for an extension of the incentive program from January 1 to June 30, 1996 to enable the remaining seven (7) out the fifteen (15) film allocation mentioned above to vie for the incentives.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved, that the Council  agrees to extend the time provided for in Resolution No. 19, series of 1994 for  another six (6) months from January 1 to June 30, 1996 for purposes of enabling the above mentioned availment of tax rebate allowed for seven (7) more film productions.

This resolution shall take effect upon approval.
