AMENDMENTS TO ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 6, SERIES 2002



To further align the country's import rules and regulations to the World Trade Organization (WTO) Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Agreement, the following amendments to AO 6 series 2002 are hereby prescribed:

1. Section 1 is amended to read as follows: 

"Only pet food duly registered and produced by manufacturing plants accredited by BAI shall be allowed for importation. Manufacturing plants that currently export pet food to Philippines and comply with the provisions of A.O. 6 series 2002 and this Order are considered accredited subject to future re-evaluation. The BAI shall issue guidelines for the accreditation of new manufacturing plants."

2. Section 2-b is amended to read as follows: 

"The mammalian protein used is derived from animals born and bred in the country which is free from BSE or the mammalian protein has been imported from a country which is free from BSE and derived from animals born and bred in that BSE free country."

3. Section 2-c is amended to read as follows: 

"The product has undergone a manufacturing process that destroys the Foot and Mouth Disease virus in accordance with the OIE International Animal Health Code."

All existing Orders, rules and regulation inconsistent herewith are hereby revoked, repealed and/or amended accordingly.
