[ CSC MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 20, August 04, 1997 ]

WEARING OF FILIPINA DRESS IN LINE WITH THE PHILIPPINE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION



CSC Resolution No. 97-3461, dated July 24, 1997 adopts and promulgates the policy of the National Centennial Commission - Women Sector (NCC-WS) for all Filipino women employees to wear the Filipina dress at least once a week until December 31, 1998 as an outward manifestation/symbol of the Rebirth of the Filipina identity.

1.         All Filipino women employed in various government agencies, regardless of status of appointment, are enjoined to wear the Filipina dress at least once a week, the day to be determined by the agency head;

2.         The design of the Filipina dress shall be left to the discretion of the agency to the extent that it is deemed practical by the Office; and

3.         The agency heads shall determine who shall be required to wear and be exempted from this Circular.

This Memorandum Circular shall take effect fifteen (15) days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation.

RESOLUTION NO. 973461

WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 128 created the National Centennial Commission (NCC) and furthermore, by order of the President, Fidel V. Ramos, created the Women Sector;

WHEREAS, Presidential Proclamation No. 916 calls". . . on all employees of the government, both local and national, to join the Philippine Centennial Movement from June 12, 1996 to December 31, 1998. x x";

WHEREAS, as the Role of Filipino Women in Philippine History and Nation-Building deserves to be recognized and publicly acknowledged in the Centennial Spirit of Filipinism, all Filipinas are enjoined to be active participants in the overall renewal and transformation of the nation;

WHEREFORE, foregoing premises considered, the Civil Service Commission resolves to adopt and promulgate the policy of the NCC-WS to enjoin all Filipinas in all government agencies to wear the Filipina dress at least once a week as an outward manifestation/symbol of the rebirth of the Filipina identity.
