(NAR) VOL. 7 NO. 3 / JULY-SEPTEMBER 1996

[ BOC MEMORANDUM, June 23, 1994 ]

ESCAPE OF INMATES

It has been observed that incidents of escapes by inmates under your custody has progressively increased. This clearly manifests a lack of security consciousness on the part of the custodial forces and very loose supervision by Penal Superintendents concerned.

Additionally, the incident of escape is reported but the filing of criminal complaint of Evasion of Service of Sentence against the escapee is not immediately acted upon.

In this connection, all penal superintendents are advised to exercise closer supervision and control over custodial forces under them and take immediate action to file criminal complaint of Evasion of Service of Sentence against the escapee within the jurisdiction of the court where the escape took place.

For strict compliance.
