[ OWWA MEMORANDUM OF INSTRUCTION NO. 018, s. 2002, November 12, 2002 ]

AMENDING ITEM NO. II OF MOI NO. 13, SERIES OF 1998 PRESCRIBING THE COLLECTION RATE OF MEDICARE PREMIUM IF THE PREVAILING EMBASSY RATE IS VERY HIGH.



1.) Coverage

All Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWS) who wish to renew their medicare coverage at job site. 

2.) Premium payment rate

The prevailing Embassy rate shall be used as conversion rate for the P900.00 annual medicare premium on all on site collections. However, in the absence or inapplicability of the Embassy rate, the bank rate shall be applied provided a Certification from the Bank shall be attached to the Report of Collection upon submission to the Manila Office.

For those country using US Dollar as their local currency, a fix rate of P50.00 to a dollar US$1.00 shall be imposed.

In the event the rate of exchange fluctuates at 10% above, or below the prevailing rate in the Philippines, the rate of premium shall be adjusted accordingly.

All other provisions of MOI No. 13 consistent herewith shall remain in effect.

This order takes effect on 01 January 2003 and supersedes all previously issued guidelines by the Medicare Program Management Office relative to the herein subject.
