APPLICATION FOR ISSUE OF DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE IN BASIC SAFETY FOR NEW ENTRANTS UNDER THE 1978 STCW CONVENTION, AS AMENDED
Effective 11 March 2002, the National Assessment Center (NAC) will start accepting applications for New Entrants requiring documentary evidence in Basic Safety Training and Instruction under the 1978 Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping Convention (STCW), As Amended.
New Entrants refer to seafarers who have no seagoing service or whose seagoing service is less than twelve (12) months but have completed an approved training in Personal Survival Technique, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibility.
Applications for issue of STCW ’95 document in Basic Safety and Instruction submitted by the shipping company, manning agency or seafarer’s organization shall be accepted by the NAC subject to the accomplishment of the forms hereto attached and provided that seafarers endorsed for assessment are lined-up for immediate deployment.
Acceptance of applications of walk-in applicants requiring issuance of documentary evidence in Basic Safety Training and Instruction may be considered, when deemed necessary.
