DETAINED ALIENS



1.  A detained alien has no right to bail, under the ruling of the Supreme Court in Ong See Hang v. Commissioner. Bail is discretionary with the Commissioner.

2.  If he has no lawyer of his own, the detainee may obtain free legal aid from the CID Public Defender's Office located at the CID building, 4th floor.

3.  Unless he elects sel-deportation, the detainee must stand deportation trial.  The trial court (BSI) shall try cases under the principle, "first come first served.  The date of the trial depends on how many other cases have been scheduled before your case.

4.  These Instructions shall be copied in a poster that shall be displayed in the detention station and the courtroom.
