[ PRC BOARD OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING RESOLUTION NO. 07, s. 1997, July 31, 1997 ]

AMENDING ANNEX “A”, PARAGRAPH (B) AND (C), SUBDIVISION II, OF RESOLUTION NO. 3, SERIES OF 1993, ENTITLED “GUIDELINES AND GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS ON THE CONDUCT OF THE CHEMICAL ENGINEERING LICENSURE EXAMINATION; SYLLABI AND ORGANIZATION/SCOPE OF THE SUBJECTS THEREIN”



In its consultative meeting held on May 31, 1997 with the members of the academe from the Chemical Engineering Departments of the University of the Philippines, Diliman; De La Salle University; Mapua Institute of Technology; Adamson University; Saint Louis University and the officers of Philippines Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Board of Chemical Engineering reviewed the rules governing the use of textbooks and other printed or written materials, calculators and other portable computers, and other matters pertaining to the conduct of the Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination.

After the consultation with the academe and practicing chemical engineers, the Board perceived an imperative need to amend the rules on the use of textbooks and calculators in order to effect an honest, credible and effective licensure examination.

WHEREFORE, the Board hereby resolved to amend as it hereby amends PARAGRAPHS (B) and (C) SUBDIVISION II of Resolution No. 03, Series of 1993, which shall now read as follows:
“B.     Only the Chemical Engineering Handbook by Perry, et. al. any edition SHALL BE ALLOWED TO BE OPENED AND USED AS REFERENCE DURING EACH EXAMINATION DAY inside the examination room. All excess books and printed, handwritten or mimeographed notes, solutions, reviewers, bound or unbound, shall not be permitted inside the room.”

“C.    Only handheld electronic calculators, WHICH ARE NOT programmable, shall be allowed in the examination room. Personal computers, laptop, and higher types of calculating medium shall not be allowed.”
The amendments introduced in this Resolution shall be implemented in the November 5, 6 & 7, 1997 Chemical Engineering Licensure Examination and in subsequent examinations.

This Resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days from its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation, whichever comes earlier.

Let copies of this resolution be furnished to all schools, colleges and universities, public and private, offering courses in Chemical Engineering for dissemination to their students and graduates.
