REVOCATION OF M.O. 12, SERIES OF 2003 IMPOSING A TEMPORARY BAN ON THE IMPORTATION OF ANIMALS, FRESH FROZEN MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCTS FROM PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (PROC)



WHEREAS, the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Office des Epizooties (OIE) issued a statement that there is no available scientific evidence to prove that movement of animals and animal products pose a risk in the spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS);

WHEREAS, no other country has imposed a ban on the importation of animals, fresh frozen meat and meat products from PROC as a result of SARS outbreak.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, LUIS P. LORENZO, JR., Secretary of Agriculture, by the powers vested in me by law, do hereby revoke the temporary ban on the importation of animals, fresh frozen meat and meat products from PROC to the Philippines.

This ORDER shall take effect immediately.
