[ SRA CIRCULAR LETTER NO. 54, August 04, 1998 ]

CLASSIFYING AS "B" OR DOMESTIC SUGAR THE 200,000 M.T. SUGAR IMPORTATION APPROVED BY THE PRESIDENT FOR 1998



The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) in the exercise of its regulatory function and pursuant to the Memorandum from the President re: Authorization to Import Sugar, dated 03 August 1998, causing the importation of 154,453 M.T. of raw sugar in addition to the 45,547 M.T. of raw sugar under the Minimum Access Volume (MAV) for a total importation of 200,000 M.T. of raw sugar, said memorandum directing the SRA to facilitate the aforementioned importation, hereby classifies the said total volume of imported sugar as "B" or domestic sugar.

All importers/consignees subject of the mentioned 200,000 M.T. sugar importation are hereby required to present before the SRA their MAV certifications issued by the Department of Agriculture or certifications issued by the following national planter's organizations namely: i) CONFED, ii) UNIFED, iii) NFSP, and iv) PANAYFED, upon applying for clearance for imported sugar, for control and monitoring purposes.

This Circular Letter shall take effect immediately.

All concerned importers/consignees should be guided accordingly.
