(NAR) VOL. 12 NO. 2 / JANUARY - MARCH 2001

[ CSC MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 15, S. 2001, June 11, 2001 ]

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT FOR NON-SUC INSTRUCTOR/PROFESSOR POSITIONS

Pursuant to CSC Resolution No. 010951 dated May 22, 2001, the Civil Service Commission ruled that universities and colleges created through local ordinance are embraced in the closed career and have to establish their own merit system.  In view of this, eligibilities are no longer required for Instructor/Professor positions in universities and colleges created by local ordinance.  However, RA 1080 eligibility shall be required if the courses to be taught are covered by BAR or specific Board Law. Moreover, Non-SUCs are not precluded from establishing higher standards.

The Commission has further resolved that this applies only to tertiary level.  This Memorandum Circular shall take effect immediately.

Adopted: 11 June 2001
