PRODUCTS IMPORTED FROM CHINA



With the recent and alarming news wherein various foodstuffs imported from China were reported to have been manufactured using formaldehyde, illegal dyes, and industrial wax, the Bureau of Food and Drugs has been into regular monitoring, sampling and testing of products for the possibility of the presence of these toxic elements.

In the light that you are jointly responsible and have the moral duty to meet the right of our consuming public to safe products, and to help restraint the fear of the consuming public, you are hereby ordered to submit samples of your products to BFAD-recognized laboratories for testing and to subsequently show proof to BFAD that the products you import are free from any traces of harmful ingredients.

Should the findings show the presence of the said contaminants, further submission of product samples to BFAD for confirmatory laboratory testing is mandatory; incidental laboratory costs shall be borne by the importer.

Attached is the list of BFAD-recognized laboratories*.
