[ CIAC RESOLUTION NO. 04-98, October 08, 1998 ]

INCREASING THE COST OF TRANSCRIPTS OF STENOGRAPHIC NOTES FROM P 5.00/PAGE TO P 6.00/PAGE



WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 1008 mandates the expeditious settlement of construction disputes filed with the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission (CIAC);

WHEREAS, to achieve this end, there is a need to speed up the transcription of the stenographic notes of the hearings for said cases;

WHEREAS, the Supreme Court, has issued Administrative Order No. 24-90 mandating the speedy delivery by the stenographer of the transcript of stenographic notes and has passed a resolution giving the stenographer half the price of said transcripts as an incentive for their efforts towards this end;

WHEREAS, CIAC Resolution No. 1-91 passed on 5 April 1991, adopted Section 10 of Rule 41 of the Rules of Court with modification as follows:
"CIAC stenographer/clerk/secretary shall give certified transcript of notes taken by them to every person requesting same upon payment of five pesos (P 5.00) for each page, PROVIDED, however, that one half of the net proceed per page (i.e. P 5/page minus P 1 for xerox/paper costs or P 4 per page) shall be paid to CIAC and the other half of the CIAC stenographer/clerk/secretary concerned"
WHEREAS, there is now a need to increase such cost of transcript of stenographic notes in light of the present economic realities;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT HEREBY RESOLVED, to increase the cost of transcripts of stenographic notes from the present P 5/page to P 6/page, PROVIDED, however that one-half of the proceeds per page shall be paid to CIAC and other half to the CIAC stenographer/clerk/secretary concerned.
