NAMING THE NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION NTC AS THE DESIGNATING AUTHORITY IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MUTUAL RECOGNITION ARRANGEMENTS (MRAS)



To foster the development and improvement of telecommunications products and services to meet national and global requirements of the sector, and in fullfillment with Philippines commitment under mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs) to which the country is a signatory, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) is hereby named DESIGNATING AUTHORITY in the implementation of these arrangements.

As Designating Authority, the NTC shall comply with the International Standardization Organization (ISO) IEC Guidelines, i.e. to be abe to designate, monitor and verify accreditation and conformity assessment bodies.  For this purpose, it shall work in close coordination with the Bureau of Product Standards and this Office, in establishing these criteria or requirements.

This Memorandum may be revised or amended as this Office deems appropriate, in the interest of public service or as may be required, to meet commitments to which the Philippines is a signatory.

This Circular shall take effect fifteen (15) days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation and three (3) certified true copies furnished the U.P. Law Center,
