AMENDMENT TO SUGAR ORDER NO. 1, S. 2003-2004, RE: SUGAR POLICY FOR CROP YEAR 2003-2004



WHEREAS, it is in the national interest to export our "A" sugar and "D" sugar to the U.S. Market and World Market, respectively, at the earliest time possible, particularly during the peak production of our sugar production (December to April);

WHEREAS, there is a need to increase the percent production of our "A" sugar to Crop Year 2003-2004 to ensure the immediate availability of the said sugar in order to establish an orderly and effective shipment of the "A" sugar vis-a-vis "D" sugar during the aforecited period;

WHEREAS, the aforesaid increase in the "A" sugar production will not affect our domestic market;

WHEREAS, there is a need to amend certain provision of Sugar Order No. 1, series of 2003-2004;

SECTION 1. Section 1 of Sugar Order No. 1, series of 2003-2004 is hereby amended to read as follows:

"Section 1. Production and Classes of Sugar - Sugar production for the Crop Year 2003-2004 (September 01, 2003 to August 31, 2004) is expected to be within the range of 2.16-2.27 Million Metric Tons and shall be quedanned by the mill companies, as implementors of this Sugar Order, in the following percentages:
 
"A" or U.S. Quota Sugar
- 6.00%
"B" or Domestic Sugar - 89.50%
"B-1" or Food Processors'/Exporters' Sugar - 0.50%
"D" or World Market Sugar-  4.00%
   ----------
 Total - 100.00%

SECTION 2.  Other provisions of Sugar Order No. 1, series of 2003-2004 shall remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 3.  This Sugar Order shall take effect to cover raw sugar production of weekending December 28, 2003 and thereafter.

SECTION 4.  Other provisions of Sugar Orders, Circular Letters, rules and regulations inconsistent with or contrary to this Sugar Order are hereby amended, modified or revoked accordingly.
