(NAR) VOL. III NO. 4 / OCTOBER - DECEMBER 1992

[ DPWH DEPARTMENT ORDER NO. 119, August 20, 1992 ]

THICKNESS DETERMINATION FOR CONCRETE AND ASPHALT PAVEMENTS

It has come to the attention of this Office that there are some concrete and asphalt pavements being accepted and paid even without conducting the required core test for thickness determination.

In order to be assured that the Concrete and Asphalt Pavements are constructed in accordance with the specified thickness as called for in the approved plans and specifications, it is directed that, henceforth, the provisions of Subsections 307.3.10 and 311.3.22, for Items 307 and 311, respectively, of the 1988 DPWH Standard Specifications for Highways, Bridges and Airports, Volume II, on thickness determination be strictly complied with.

No acceptance and final payment shall be made on completed Concrete and Asphalt Pavements unless core test for thickness determination is conducted, except for Barangay Roads where the implementing office is allowed to waive such test, per Memorandum dated 9 July 1990.

Strict compliance is enjoined.
