[ PRC BOARD OF PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS RESOLUTION NO. 241, S. 1998, July 07, 1998 ]
EXTENDED REGISTRATION OF PERSONS AS PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS UNDER SECTION 26, ARTICLE III OF R.A. 7836 WHO WERE OUT OF THE COUNTRY DURING THE PERIOD OF REGISTRATION
WHEREAS, the Board has been aware that there are persons who are qualified to register as professional teachers under Section 26, Article III of R.A. 7836, known as the "Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994," but who, by reason of their being out of the country, failed to register during the period of registration; and
WHEREAS, the right of these persons to register as professional teachers could not be foreclosed by the expiration of the period for registration provided in the Act for they could not have been notified actually, much less constructively, of the publication of the law to make such law binding upon them since they were out of the country,
WHEREFORE, the Board RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES, to allow all persons qualified to register as professional teachers under Sec. 26, Article III of R.A. 7836 who were out of the country during the period of registration, provided that they can submit authentic proof that they were out of the country during the period of registration from September, 1995 to September 19, 1997.
The Registration Division, Office of the Professional Teachers, Professional Regulation Commission, shall accept applications for registration as professional teachers from persons qualified to register as professional teachers if such applications are accompanied by photocopies of the pages of their passports, showing that they were out of the country during the period of registration, their passports having been shown to the accepting officer.
This Resolution shall, after approval of the Commission, become effective after fifteen (15) days following its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation, whichever comes earlier.
Let copies of this Resolution be furnished the Department of Foreign Affairs for dissemination to concerned teachers through its offices abroad and the
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration for dissemination to Filipino teachers working abroad.
