(NAR) VOL. 15 NOS. 1-2 / APRIL - JUNE 2004

[ NTC MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 03-05-2004, May 25, 2004 ]

ALLOCATING ADDITIONAL FREQUENCY BAND FOR WIRELESS LOCAL LOOP (WLL) TECHNOLOGY

Whereas pursuant to RA 7925 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, specifically Rule 600 of MC 8-9-95, the radio spectrum allocation and assignment shall be subject to review in the interest of public service thereby ensuring wider access to the limited radio spectrum and the use of cost effective technology.

Whereas the Commission is in receipt of numerous applications for WLL technologies and in order to support the implementation of emerging technologies in information and communication and accommodate the demand for WLL in unserved and underserved areas, there is a need to allocate additional frequencies for WLL technologies using paired frequencies.

Wherefore, in the interest of service, the Commission hereby allocates 1900-1910 / 1980-1990 MHz to the Wireless Local Loop (WLL) band in addition to that provided under MC 01-01-97.

The above additional allocation is subject to the following:

1. Only type approved/accepted radio equipment shall be allowed to op erate under the above band.
2. Assignment is subject to availability of frequencies and on a non-inter ference basis.
3. The above allocated radio frequency spectrum for WLL shall be for fixed local telephone use only and shall not be used for mobile services.

This circular may be revised, revoked or amended as may be necessary and shall take effect fifteen (15) days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation and three (3) certified copies furnished the UP Law Center.
