[ PSO CIRCULAR NO. 92-60, November 16, 1992 ]

ITEMS CONTAINING MONEY – ESTONIA

The postal administration of ESTONIA has informed the International Bureau through Circular No. 340 dated 2 November 1992 that it receives numerous complaints about the loss of money contained in letter-post items.  In this regard, it states that, in accordance with its national legislation, it does not accept postal items containing paper money or coins and declines all liability in the event of loss, theft, or damage of such items.  Consequently, it asks Union administrations to take the necessary steps to ensure that postal items intended for its country do not contain articles of this kind.

Regional Directors, Assistant Regional Directors, Chief Postal Service Officers, Postmasters, Supervisory Officials and all other employees concerned specially postal tellers are enjoined to bring the matter to the attention of the mailing public.

For strict compliance, please.
