[ CUSTOMS MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 27-2005, June 27, 2005 ]

AMENDMENT TO CMO 23-2005 RE: MANDATORY 100% EXAMINATION OF ALL REEFER IMPORTATIONS OF MEAT/POULTRY/FISH PRODUCTS EXCEPT PEZA AND SGL ACCREDITED COMPANIES



Section 1. Objective. To provide support to the Avian Influenza Protection Program being implemented jointly by the Department of Agriculture, Department of Health, Bureau of Customs and the Poultry Industry.

Section 2. Coverage. This Order covers importations coming from the following territories:

Section 3. Mandatory Examination Requirement. All importations of frozen meat, poultry and fish products loaded in refrigerated container vans (reefer vans) except PEZA and Super Green Lane Shipments, shall be subjected to 100% examination in the presence of representatives from the CIIS, Department of Agriculture, and its attached agencies such as the Bureau of Animal Industry, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and National Meat Inspection Board, and the consignee or its/his/her representative.

Section 4. Conduct of Examination. The Veterinary Quarantine Officers shall conduct preliminary physical examination for all incoming, frozen meat and poultry products without delay in the presence of the representatives of the above-mentioned agencies at the port. Thereafter, covered shipments shall be escorted by representatives of the above-mentioned agencies to the consignee's or importer's warehouse where the 100% examination shall be conducted by the assigned Customs Operations Officer III.

Section 5. Reports. Reports on the results of the examination shall be jointly submitted within 24 hours after examination to the Office of the Commissioner.

Section 6. Effectivity. This Order takes effect immediately.
