BENEFICIARIES OF BURIAL ASSISTANCE



1.  Section 20, RA 6948 provides that the next-of-kin of a deceased veteran shall be given Four Thousand Pesos (4,000.00) as burial assistance.

2.  The burial assistance will be granted in one lump sum to one beneficiary only according to the following precedence:

2.1    If the deceased veteran was married.

2.1.1        The surviving spouse.

2.1.2        The surviving child who assumed responsibility for the burial.

2.1.3        Either parent.

2.1.4        Any relative who assumed responsibility for the burial.

2.2    If the deceased veteran has never been married.

2.2.1        Either parent.

2.2.2        The brother or sister who assumed responsibility for the burial.

2.2.3        Any relative who assumed responsibility for the burial.

3.  A claimant, other than primary beneficiaries, who claim to have assumed responsibility for the burial shall be required to exhibit receipts or other proof of expenditure to support the claim.
