PAYMENT OF OLD AGE PENSION



1.  Payment of old-age pension under the provisions of Sections 10 and 11 of Republic Act No. 6948, shall be in accordance with the following conditions:

1.1
When a veteran or a surviving spouse was already at least sixty-five (65) years of age on 9 April 1990: Payment shall begin on the said date: PROVIDED, however, that if the application for old-age pension was filed in any year after 1990, initial payment shall begin in January of the year when the application was filed without prejudice to payment of accrued and unpaid pension from 9 April 1990, subject to the availability of funds.

When a veteran or a surviving spouse became sixty-five (65) years of age after 9 April 1990: Payment shall begin on the claimant’s sixty-fifth birthday: PROVIDED, however, that if the application for old-age pension was filed in any year after the year when the claimant became sixty-five (65) years of age, payment shall begin in January of the year when the application was filed without prejudice to payment of accrued and unpaid pension from the date claimant became sixty-five (65) years of age, subject to the availability of funds.

2.      At the close of each calendar year, the Veterans Benefits Service (VBS) shall provide the Financial and Management Division (FMD) with an inventory of pending claims.  The FMD shall use the inventory in determining the amount which shall be obligated to meet the payment of pending claims.
