[ PPA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 08-90, March 30, 1990 ]

REVISED SCHEDULE OF PORTERAGE RATES FOR DOMESTIC CARGO AT THE NORTH HARBOR, PORT OF MANILA



Pursuant to the provisions of the Presidential Decree No. 857, the revised charter of the Philippine Ports Authority, and in order to rationalize the existing porterage rates imposed on passengers seeking conveyance of their baggages, and to prevent the imposition of exhorbitant porterage charges, the following interim porterage rates are hereby issued:

Terms and Conditions

1. Pieces of baggage carried by porters or by the passengers themselves shall not be subject to any arrastre charges;

2. Porterage fees for baggage not specified above shall be subject to negotiation/agreement with the passengers;

3. The porters shall be liable for indemnification of losses/damages to baggage, luggage or other personal effects handled by them as a result of inefficiency negligence or imprudence; and

2. The rates prescribed herein shall be posted in conspicuous places in the North Harbor.

This Order shall take effect fifteen (15) days after copies are disseminated to all concerned and posted in conspicuous places inside the port.
