(NAR) VOL. 5 NO. 3/JULY - SEPTEMBER 1994

[ BC CUSTOMS MEMORANDUM OLDER NO. 31-94, August 02, 1994 ]

BANNING ALL CUSTOMS PERSONNEL DETAILED AT NAIA FROM ACCEPTING TIPS, GIFTS AND OTHER ITEMS OF VALUE FROM PASSENGERS, ARRIVING AND DEPARTING, WITHIN NAIA COMPLEX

<DIV ALIGN=JUSTIFY>It has been brought to the attention of higher authorities that there Is rampant solicitation of tips, gifts, and other items of value from passengers, both arriving and departing. The frequent excuse given Is that the passengers themselves voluntarily give the Items as a gesture of their appreciation or friendship.

This practice has been responsible for the poor image of the country's premiere airport and the people manning it.

For these reasons, it is hereby declared as prohibited the acceptance of any tip, gift, or any item of value, even if voluntarily given by passengers within the NAIA Complex. All customs personnel found violating this Order snail face administrative charges for violation of specific Instructions and conduct unbecoming of a government employee.

Strict compliance.
