[ POEA MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 18, February 23, 1995 ]

EXEMPTION TO THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT FOR FEMALE HOUSEHOLD WORKERS (AU PAIR GIRLS) BOUND FOR SWEDEN



Pursuant to Governing Board Resolution No. 02, Series of 1994 prescribing twenty-five (25) years as the minimum age for female household workers, exemption is hereby granted to au pair girls bound for Sweden since the country meets the following conditions prescribed by the Resolution for exemption:

1. the employment terms and conditions of household workers are superior to Philippine minimum standards;

2. protection for the workers is assured by legislation and;

3. Adequate protective mechanisms for the workers are in place.

It should however be understood that the au pair girl is not below eighteen (18) years old.
