LIFTING OF MORATORIUM ON APPREHENSIONS FOR OVERLOADING AGRICULTURAL AND PERISHABLE PRODUCTS



A Memorandum was issued by then Assistant Secretary Alberto H. Suansing on 21 November 2008 providing for a Moratorium on Apprehension for Overloading of Motor Vehicles Carrying Agricultural and Perishable Food Products the purpose of which is to lower food prices and to ensure the efficient operation of food supply chain nationwide. As the reason for the said memorandum no longer exists, the said moratorium is hereby lifted.

This is also in response to the concerns raised by Government Agencies and other stakeholders concerned with road maintenance stating that overloading has adversely affected the stability and safety conditions of the roads.

This Memorandum shall take effect on September 22, 2009 to allow proper information dissemination to all persons and offices concerned.

All concerned are further directed to effectively implement the road safety regulations of this Office.
