(NAR) VOL. II NO. 2 / APRIL - JUNE 1991

[ LTFRB MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 91-008, June 03, 1991 ]

IMPLEMENTING LTFRB MC NO. 89-010 REQUIRING INSTALLATION IN ALL PUBLIC UTILITY BUSES OF FACILITIES AND DEVICES TO ASSIST THE DISABLED

The Board, pursuant to the provisions of Batas Pambansa (BP) Blg. 344, otherwise known as the Accessibility Law, issued Memorandum Circular Number 89-010, dated 25 July 1989, requiring all utility bus operators to install facilities and other devices aimed at promoting the welfare of disabled persons in all their respective vehicles and terminals.

It has been observed that bus operators/companies have become complacent in the implementation of the above mentioned Memorandum Circular, particularly the designation of seats for disabled persons in buses and terminals and the provision of facilities which would enhance the disabled's mobility in and accessibility to the different areas within the terminals’ premises.

In the light of the foregoing considerations, all utility bus operators are hereby reminded to comply with the requirements of Memorandum Circular No. 89-010.  All are likewise directed to submit to the Board on or before 30 June 1991 a report on the action they have respectively taken to comply with the provisions of the Memorandum Circular.

This Memorandum Circular takes effect immediately.

Adopted: 3 June 1991
