4-WHEELER MTT SPIDER CLASSIFICATION AS “UTILITY VEHICLE”



Pursuant to Batas Pambansa Bilang 43 and 74, Republic Act 4136 otherwise known as the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, Republic Act 8794 (MVUC Law) which provides that any new model of motor vehicle in the market must be properly classified prior to its registration with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Administrative Order Number 3, Administrative Order No. 91-005 and as resolved by the MV Classification Committee, the following rules and regulations for the registration of a 4-Wheeler MTT Spider are hereby promulgated for the observance of all concerned:

SECTION 2. Classification

4-Wheeler MTT Spider shall be classified under “UTILITY VEHICLE.”

SECTION 3. Inspection

4-Wheeler MTT Spider is subject to roadworthiness inspection of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and smoke emission testing prior to registration.

SECTION 4. Motor Vehicle User’s Charge

The collectible motor vehicle user’s charge (MVUC) shall be the rates prescribed under R.A. 8794.

SECTION 5. Restriction on Operation and Modification
 
4-Wheeler MTT Spider shall in no case be allowed to carry more than 7 passengers (including the driver).

No modification of the 4-Wheeler MTT Spider’s body configuration in order to allow heavier or bigger load shall be allowed unless such is authorized and certified safe by its manufacturer, Bureau of Product Standards – Department of Trade and Industry, and the Land Transportation Office – Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and covered by a new Certificate of Conformity for emission issued by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

SECTION 6. Plates and Stickers Assignment

4-Wheeler MTT Spider shall be assigned a pair of regular plates and stickers (green for private and yellow for for-hire).

SECTION 7. Registration

All registration requirements and roadworthiness/emission standards applicable to vehicles classified under “Utility Vehicle” shall apply to MTT Spider.

All 4-wheeler MTT Spiders that were already registered with LTO prior to the effectivity of this Order but were registered under a different classification shall be reclassified accordingly and the corresponding MVUC shall be collected on the next schedule of its registration.

SECTION 8. Effectivity

These guidelines shall take effect fifteen (15) days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
