[ SRA ORDER NO. 1-A S. 2005-2006, August 31, 2005 ]

REVISED SUGAR POLICY FOR CROP YEAR 2005-2006



WHEREAS, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has announced (dated 30 August 2005 and was received by SRA on 31 August 2005) the Country-By-Country Tariff Rate Quota Allocations of the Raw Cane Sugar for Quota Year 2005-2006, allocating for the Philippines 156,975 MTRV (151,667 MTCW) from the 142,160 MTRV (137,353 MTCW) of the previous Quota Year 2004-2005.

WHEREAS, it is in the national interest to fill-up the aforecited US Quota Allocation at the earliest time possible and/or within the prescribed quota period;

WHEREAS, there is a need to revise the SRA Sugar Policy for Crop Year 2005-2006 (Sugar Order No. 1) in order to ensure the filling up of the increase in our quota allocation of 14,815 MTRV (14,314 MTCW);

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the powers vested in the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), it is hereby ordered that:

SECTION 1. Production and Classes of Sugar. The classification and percentage allocation of sugar production under SRA Sugar Order No. 1, Series of 2005-2006 are hereby revised:

                               
"A" or U.S. Quota Sugar   7.00%
"B" or Domestic Sugar  93.00%
  
TOTAL
100.00%

SECTION 2. This Order shall take effect immediately.

SECTION 3. Other provisions of Sugar Order No. 1, Series of 2005-2006 shall remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 4. Provisions of Sugar Orders, Circular Letters, rules and regulation contrary to or inconsistent with this Sugar Order are hereby revised, modified or revoked accordingly.
